Community-Based Mentoring
In the Community-based program, an adult volunteer is matched to
a child, aged 6–17. The “Big” and “Little”
share everyday activities and simple outings 3–4 times a month
for one year.
Community-based Bigs and Littles set their own meeting schedule
and agendas, which might include:
- Tossing a Frisbee at the lakefront
- Cooking dinner together
- Ice skating at the Pettit National Ice Center
- Attending a Milwaukee Wave game
- Making a scrapbook
- Learning to play guitar
- Washing the car together
Get involved! Become a Community-based
Big Brother or Sister.
Included in the Community-based program are these additional
options:
Couple or Family Match:
A couple or entire family chooses to mentor a child together.
Cross-Gender Matches for Young Boys:
Because so many boys are on our waiting list, we will match boys
under 12 with an adult woman volunteer. We do not match girls with
men.
